To create a world where protecting peace, empowerment, authenticity, culture, and education are a part of every Black girl's journey. We want to help everyone reach their potential by providing access to good education, celebrating cultural diversity, and empowering every voice. By building real, meaningful connections, we aim to bridge gaps and promote lasting peace and unity.
We envision a world where peace is a given, and every Black girl, no matter her background, feels empowered to live an authentic life full of cultural and educational opportunities.
Zaiya Collins, the visionary founder of Protecting Peace, is dedicated to uplifting and empowering Black girls within predominantly white institutions (PWIs). As a high school student who has attended PWIs almost her entire life, Zaiya recognizes the unique and multifaceted challenges faced by Black girls in these environments. With a background in non-profit leadership from having served as the Chair for Socioeconomic Awareness and Reading Comprehension with Grace 4 Race 501c3, her passion for creating equitable and supportive spaces led her to establish Protecting Peace. Under her leadership, Protecting Peace will develop innovative programs and initiatives that provide educational resources, foster cultural identity, and promote mental well-being. Zaiya’s commitment to education-centric empowerment ensures that Black girls receive the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive mentally and personally. She has been instrumental in creating safe, virtual spaces where Black girls can connect with peers, express their cultural identity, and build resilience against the challenges they face day to day.
